My first soft material is the Scrub Daddy brand sponge, specifically the scrubber side of this one. I think this material is really interesting because of how harsh and rigid it is at both room temperature and cold water temps. It gives the sponge a very strong structure. After a minute or two of being run under hot water, this scrubber material becomes much softer and more malleable. In this state, it can much easier fit into the nooks and crannies of mugs or smaller dishes.

This material gets its softness from a material property, specifically that it is temperature sensitive.

My second soft material is felted wool! When felted, wool has the ability to become quite hard and structural, while still maintaining a soft surface tough. This is interesting to me due to the fluffy unstructured state it starts in. While the wool is structured when felted, it is still bendable and able to be reshaped.

This material gets its softness from both material properties and structure.
