I found the dichotomies of what a color represents really interesting. For example Egon Shiele’s green being a completely toxic substance; green representing sickness, yet also the color of nature and growth. It made me think a lot about how the color red can be assumed to mean stop, but what else does it represent in other cultures, and in the hierarchy of meaning in people’s brains how high up is the meaning of “Stop”? How many of our current meanings of colors are taken up by brand recognition now? Is green less about sick and nature and more about Spotify in people’s minds? Maybe I am being dramatic.
